"Planning Live Music Outdoors"

Live Music for Weddings, corporate, and
special events in the Carolinas

Live music is great! No matter if it's a wedding reception, concert, or other special event. If you want to plan an outdoor event with live music, it's really quite simple. In the mountains of North Carolina, we have a lot of rain, yet outdoor events are planned and successfully carried out.  If you're in Asheville, Greenville, Charlotte, or some smaller town in the Carolina's, or even Georgia for that matter, you can plan your event, have live music, and have a great time, rain or shine. Even outdoor weddings can be planned with no worries about the weather. Below are a few suggestions for planning your outdoor event with live music.

Reserve the location for your outdoor event - With all the possibilities you'll want to take your time to find that perfect place. It could be on a hill overlooking a lake or valley, or a cozy place by a brook with a Gazebo. Make sure there is enough room for the band to set up for your live music needs. Also, be sure there are not other events nearby. For example: If you reserve a park, are they going to be having a 15k race the same day or a political rally?

Accessibility - If you're having live music for a wedding reception or other special event, the band will need access to the performance area to load/unload sound equipment, etc. Also, you will want to think about your guests, especially the elderly or those with handicaps. Parking should be a consideration as well. You may want to assign attendants to take care of these needs.

Tents - While you may not need a tent for your event, any band playing live music, whether for a wedding reception or any other special event, will need a covered area. The reasons are self explanatory. Equipment is very expensive and just a single drop of water can damage any of the electrical equipment. Also, direct sunlight is detrimental to musical instruments. You will need to consider when the tents must be set up (usually at least 24  hours in advance) and torn down. You may even want to consider having sides on the tent in case it does rain and there are winds.

Permits - Some locations may require a permit to erect a tent or other structure. In the case of live music, you may need a permit for amplified sound. In most cases, these are not required, but it is a good idea to ask. To have a live band performing at a wedding reception, only to have officials say you can't have live performers in that area would be most embarrassing, to say the least. You may also have to consider if your outdoor event will be blocking any roads or sidewalks. Again, you may need permits to be allowed to do this.

Caterers - These will need a place to work in. You will need a building nearby or another smaller tent for these individuals. If they are in a tent they will need tables to work on.

All of this may sound like a lot. Actually, it's not as difficult as one may think. The band has worked with some great caterers and can direct you to some here in Western North Carolina and the Asheville area. We are not as familiar with caterers in other areas but we can work with you to find capable individuals. As far as the music goes, we can bring the live music to you, providing there is power available. We can even work out the details on this as well.

Planning live music for your outdoor event, whether its a wedding reception or other special occasion, can be made simple. Don't hesitate to contact the band for all you live performance needs.
