What was I thinking?!

First of all, not all is lost. Wedding planning has been going on since long before either you or I have been around. So let's start out by taking a deep breath. Now exhale, and remember that we're going to get through this. The wedding is the single most important day in your life. It will also be the most joyous. That being said, it's time to consider what your needs may be.

Do this: Go to our wedding planning page to print out a time table. This will start the ball rolling and let you know how much time you have. It will also serve as a check list, just to make sure you leave nothing out.

After looking over the wedding planning page, you may be asking yourself, "How much is all of this going to cost?" Well, that depends greatly upon you. You will find that much of the cost is labor. You can hire a wedding planner to go over all the details and arrange things for you. You can go to our Vendor Links page for the Asheville, NC and surrounding areas (including Charlotte, Greenville, Atlanta, and Knoxville), or go to our Partner Links page for national vendors. However, much of the work may also be done by you and your friends. CLICK HERE for a wedding planning calculator that asks you questions on how much you want to spend on what.

By assigning some tasks to family and friends, you can cut your costs dramatically. You may be surprised at how many people will love opportunity to be a part of your wedding and are willing to assist you. For instance, if you have a friend or relative that is an excellent cook, you may see if they would like to head up the food and beverages. You might have a computer whiz that would love to design invitations, etc. If you ask around, you may find someone very talented as a calligrapher. They may enjoy this task as well. Mailing out invitations can be quite a job in itself. Again, a friend or relative may want to do this for you. Bus boys, waiters, parking attendants, etc, can usually be found among young ones in your family. Since this is a family event, perfection is not expected, nor is it required. However, if you have the finances and want to hire these tasks out, then by all means, go ahead. This is YOUR wedding. You can do whatever YOU want. But remember, you don't have to do it all yourself

The ceremony and reception hall may not have to be such a big expense. Do you have a friend with a large field and a view? You will only then need to rent a tent, and everything can be done in one place. Again, friends will be happy to set up tables and chairs, as well as decorate.
