One of the important aspects of your wedding is the photography. After all, this is a one time event, and you don’t want to miss it. However, there are other days that you may wish to have some photography done, other than just the wedding day. After all, you need pictures to send out for the wedding announcement.

Now, choosing a photographer. “Whew! I didn’t know planning a wedding involved so much,” you might say. First of all, take it easy. Your wedding will be just as good, if not better than everyone else. Although it is YOUR wedding, the right professionals have “been there, done that.” They will actually help you with your questions.

While you look at all those beautiful wedding pictures in the magazines, remember a few points. The pictures in magazines are done with models. The photographer has done many of the photos in a studio where light is controlled. Outdoor shots are done with diffusers and reflection screens to get the right lighting. All the props have been pre arranged and staged. Your event is a live event.

Now, even though your event is live. You can still end up with many shots as good as those in the magazines. You’ll want to find a photographer that will take hundreds of photos. After they are finished, they will sort through all the photographs and offer you the best. With today’s digital cameras, much can be done to soften and edit your photos.

There is also the “Golden Hour” for outdoor photography. Talk to your photographer and they will be able to explain.

There are several different types of photos you may want. Perhaps it’s the Bridesmaids getting prepared. Maybe it’s the Groom with all the Groomsmen, pinning on their flowers. There may be the parents sitting in anticipation. All these are things you’ll want to discuss with your photographer.

At the reception, this is the celebration. The ceremony is over and everyone wants to party. Lots of smiles, laughter, little ones dancing, and the list goes on. Truth is, one photographer won’t get it all, nor should they be expected too. What can you do? Many have purchased inexpensive disposable cameras and placed them on the tables. Guests are encouraged to use them up. Walking around taking candid photographs is the best. Catch people as they’re having fun. Many photo centers only charge for what pictures you want. So you can take the cameras in and just pay for what you like. You can get hundreds of photo’s to choose from this way.

Now, back to finding the right photographer. Look at their portfolio. They may have one on line where you can view hundreds of photos. However, look for a variety of styles of shooting, such as landscapes, people, fashion, interpretive. This will allow you to see their talents in different situations. You can see if they have an “eye” for their subject. This will tell you if they will have the talent you need to create the memories that can be shared with family and friends for many years to come.

One thing you’ll want to have are pictures of people dancing. The only way you’ll have people dancing is to have music for people of all ages. Live music is the best way to do that.
