"It's all about the kids"

This  weekend was great for the band. We played live at the Ashville Civic Center.

The Department of Social Services held its annual "Foster/Adopt Fall Festival at the Civic Center. The band performed live music at this special event to keep excitement among the crowds. It was a great atmosphere with a lot of great people.

Area DSS representatives were set up from Buncombe, Jackson, Swain, Macon, and surrounding counties. They would help individuals see what they could do to assist these kids needing families. There were photographs of kids from the area so everyone would have a chance to see the needs. There was a catalog  with pictures and stories of even more kids in the area.

Event planners seemed to enjoy the music, as did the many visitors. Some families of adoptive or foster children would stop by in front of the band. Some would dance while others sang or just tapped their foot.  The band would stop to go out and meet these people and hear their stories. It's amazing what some of these people have done and the love they show for "their" kids.

It was fun for the band to perform live in front of such a group. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, no pressure. There were inflatable slides, bouncing rooms, and a room full of balls to jump on. Clowns roamed the area and provided balloon animals and face painting. There were exhibitions of different types of groups and camps.
